Pest Control
IMPAK has long been considered a go-to source for modified atmosphere (MA) and controlled atmosphere (CA) packaging. We are experts in creating packaging environments with specific oxygen content or relative humidity. Though our products are most commonly used for food items, pharmaceuticals, sensitive electronic equipment, and other products that could be ruined by exposure to oxygen or moisture, some customers have found other surprising uses.
One of the most brilliant and effective of these original applications is pest control. Specifically, when small insects burrow into objects such that they are difficult to reach without damaging the object, we provide an option for ridding you of these pests. Bedbugs, termites, and other tiny bugs that burrow can often hide safely from attempts at physical removal, including vacuuming and steaming. Many of these insects are also resistant to pesticides, and pesticides can also prevent a health hazard to humans and pets. Even extreme heat and cold treatments aren't entirely effective, and can damage the items wherein the bugs hide.
A Simple and Highly Effective Solution
Bedbugs and termites, like other animals, cannot live for very long without oxygen. It has been proven in multiple scientific studies that these insects will expire within a few hours in an ultra-low-oxygen (ULO) environment. For this to work, the proper equipment and techniques must be used. IMPAK has everything you need; in fact, we supply laboratories with this kind of equipment all the time and our products are trusted to meet their exacting standards.
IMPAK has first-hand experience with using oxygen removal for pest control. Not long ago, our products and expertise were put to the test to rescue an invaluable work of art from termites, and the project was a resounding success.
Pest control companies will say that the suffocation method isn't effective on bedbugs and termites. We say that we have:
- Scientific studies that prove otherwise
- Practical experience that corroborates this method
- The products trusted by laboratories to create ULO environments
- Common sense (bugs can't live without oxygen)
